What is Medicinal Mushroom?
As early as hundreds of BC, mushrooms appeared in human history as food and medicine. To this date, it is still one of important sources of nutrition in our lives. The common edible mushrooms in our lives are mainly divided into two categories, namely general edible mushrooms and medicinal mushrooms. General edible mushrooms are rich in proteins, vitamins and amino acids, presenting high nutrition value. Besides, mushrooms are also known as high-fiber food, which can promote gastrointestinal motility; medicinal mushrooms are fungi that can produce the substrates which are beneficial to human or can inhibit the disease. Medicinal mushrooms have been used in Chinese medicine for more than 2000 years. In the past few decades, the active ingredients of medicinal mushroom have been extensively explored by scientists. Lots of evidence demonstrates the importance of medicinal mushroom in health care and drives medicinal mushroom to become another emerging research in healthy food.
